From Imagination to Collaboration in Learning.

As I approach the completion of my Senior Secondary education, I’ve come to a conclusion about the state of learning among our children. It seems that while our past experiences shape our present, imagination, unfortunately, isn’t fueling learning as it should.

In my observation, everyone involved in the education process, from teachers to students, carries their own biases. There’s an imaginary thread that connects them, yet often, there’s a lack of belief in each other. Instead of fostering collaboration and mutual understanding, our educational system tends to emphasize competitiveness.

However, in a world where borders are fading away, and global collaboration is essential, this approach needs to be updated. Take, for instance, the collaboration among countries to create the largest telescope in history to observe the black hole. Such monumental achievements wouldn’t be possible without collaboration.

We’re facing complex challenges like climate change, which demand collaborative solutions. Merely learning about the past isn’t enough; the next generation needs to cultivate skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity to tackle these issues effectively.

In countries like India, many of us leave school with vocational skills, but often with a false sense of knowledge due to the ubiquity of information through platforms like Google. It’s time for policymakers, governments, and institutions to prioritize creating environments that nurture creativity and collaboration.

As I transition into college, I want to engage with like-minded individuals who believe in breaking down boundaries and leveraging our strengths to build a better world for future generations. Let’s shift our focus from the past to shaping a collaborative future.
